THRESHOLD GUIDE
For grief, endings, and inevitable change.
Death is one of the few things we all have in common. Most of us just don't talk about it enough.
Hi. I'm Amanda, a registered nurse, threshold guide, and Master's student in Thanatology (the formal study of death and everything around it, because apparently my day job isn't enough).
I've spent years as an emergency nurse watching people face the worst moments of their lives with more grace than they thought possible (or far less than they imagined). That's what brought me here.
I work with two kinds of people: those navigating death and dying (whether that's your own or someone you love), and those in the middle of a life transition that's knocked the floor out from under you. Both deserve honest company and practical support. I offer both.
Grief isn't a problem to solve. It's a skill set you build. The practical and the emotional aren't separate tracks. They're the same road, and you need both or you'll leave something important unmet.
My approach is direct, warm, and irreverently human. I won't try to make death pretty or grief tidy. But I will sit with you in it, help you see clearly, and make sure you're not doing it alone.
You'll have to meet me to decide if I'm the right fit. I think that's how it should be.
Two ways I can walk with you.
My work spans two areas that might look different on paper but share the same foundation.
Showing up fully. Being honest with you. Not pretending this stuff is easy. Building the grief skills you'll need.
I'm available in person in the Okanagan-Similkameen, Kootenay Boundary and West Kootenays. Virtually, I can meet you anywhere.
Non-medical support for the dying and those who love them. I help with the practical things no one warned you about, the emotional weight that accumulates as you navigate healthcare, and the sacred, strange - sometimes funny - moments that happen at the end of life.
Death is not an emergency. It's a passage, and it goes better with good company.

For people who are done coasting and ready to examine what they want. Grief integration, life transitions, mind-body connection, meaning-making, or just getting unstuck. I offer coaching, workshops, and public speaking that are grounded in real experience and zero tolerance for performing your healing.

It starts with one conversation.
You're probably not reaching out to me on a good day. I know that. Here's what it looks like when you do.
Send me a message. It can be as long or as short as you like. You don't need to have it figured out, or know the right words. You just need to hit send. I'll take it from there.
We have a relaxed, no commitment call where you tell me what's going on and I tell you honestly how I might be able to help. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so and help you find another option.
If we decide to work together, we figure out the shape of it - how often, what kind of support, what we're working toward. It's your process. I'm here to support it, not run it.
Amanda was with us for the last three weeks of my mother's life. She never once tried to make us feel better than we did, which, strangely, is what helped most.
Having a nurse who also understands grief at a soul level is rare. Amanda held both at once. She could answer my medical questions and then sit quietly with me when I had no more questions. I needed both.
I came to her talk skeptical and left with things I still think about. She's sharp, funny and genuinely warm. She doesn't waste your time with fluff. I wasn't expecting to cry, but I really wasn't expecting to laugh.
Whether you're in the thick of something hard, or just starting to wonder if there's a different way to move through life, you're in the right place. You don't need to have anything figured out before you decide to connect.

I live and work on the unceded territory of the Syilx and Sinixt nations, whose relationship with this land stretches back long before wellness was an industry.
I'm grateful to do this work here, and I take the responsibility and privilege seriously.
